Workshop Description


Join us at the Los Altos Youth Baseball and Softball complex in El  Dorado Park West in Long Beach to experience a hands-on training that will demonstrate tools, equipment and best practices used the planning, design, construction and maintenance of baseball and softball fields. You and your staff will receive instruction from some of the leading consultants, suppliers, turf experts and field managers in California. The new expanded schedule provides more hands on time will be opportunity to see and try out the latest equipment and hand tools.

Workshop Outcomes


  • Understand techniques used to successfully construct, maintain and renovate the infield of a baseball and softball fields
  • Discuss the latest equipment and materials used to effectively prepare and restore baseball/softball fields after tournaments and league games
  • Expanded format this year sessions on risk management / field safety, accessibility and lunchtime speakers and expert panel discussion
  • Meet consultant, vendor/supplier and university experts in the design, construction and management of athletic fields.
  • Network with fellow sports field professionals and share information
  • Received a list of related maintenance resources applicable to operations, maintenance & sports league employees.

Featured Speaker

Luke Yoder, former Director of Field Operations for the San Diego Padres will be a featured instructor and provide a luncheon talk on trends impacting sports field management.

Expert Panel

A panel of experts from municipal parks, non-profit sports, materials and equipment suppliers and turf science will respond to the featured speaker and provide their insights in to the field. Continental breakfast will be served beginning at 7:00 a.m. and lunch will be served following the workshop and will include an Luncheon speaker and Expert Panel discussion on Trends in Athletic Field Management.

Educational Handouts

Each participant will receive a handouts and an extensive resource list of links to industry websites with hundreds of references to checklists, instructional videos, reference materials and best practices.

Educational Gift Raffle

Attendees will have the opportunity to win exciting and useful sponsor provided educational gifts and publications related to sports field management.

Registration Form

You can register by completing the paper  registration form and faxing or emailing the form to the Development and Operations Section registrar.   Also included for your use is a credit card authorization form.

Please do no fill out the credit card information on the registration form.  When your registration form has been received a member of the Development and Operations Section will contact you to obtain your credit card information over the phone.
